Cedar Point

Someone once told me that promises are meant to be broken. Nevertheless, I'm keeping my promise, providing my loyal readers with full details of my trip at Cedar Point @ Ohio, last weekend.

Having departed from the campus at around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Frank directly drove to Ohio. The sky was so pretty then. We ate dinner at Magic Wok, some Chinese fast food restaurant. That was the first time when we were amazed by the incredibly cheap food that Ohio had to offer! Alright. Lets not get caught in the whole cheapskate thing.

After we filled our stomachs, Frank drove to the inn that we booked the night before. The Inn was not too bad. However, it was funny that the basin was outside the bathroom, making it weird when Helen and I were brushing our teeths when Frank and Christa were in our room (yeap. both of us woke up late and did not turn up for "breakfast". Partially because of our little attempt to watch some thriller movies the night before).

Then, we moved on to Cedar Point! As we would have expected of a well-known amusement park, we saw trillions of people, getting ready to ride on Cedar Point's renowned roller coasters (they have 16 in total, plus some other rides). At that point of time, we felt that it was clever of us to have bought the tickets online, the night before :)

And so, at about 10:30 a.m., we took our first gondola ride to the center of the park, leaving the rides near the entrance for later. This, then, brings us to my FIRST roller coaster ride. The Top Thrill Dragster, the fastest and steepest ride in the entire park was my first ride.

Moving at the speed of 147miles (or so)/hour and turning a full 90° around the corners, my first roller coaster was really some experience. A loser in thriller sports such as this, I was not really comfortable with the idea of taking this ride. Neverthless, I brave myself to give it a try (yea.. "the fastest and the steepest".. scary) to find out that it wasn't that bad at all. I mean, I hardly could feel anything, thanks to the fact that the entire ride ended in just 17 seconds.

We proceeded to the Snake River Falls shortly after. This is probably one of my favorites. Having gone to a similar ride such as this in Australia n years back, I was quite comfortable in taking this ride. You could even say that I was excited to go for this ride. However, it was a pity that Christa could not join us. Soaked after the ride, three of us decided to stand on the bridge, waiting to get wet from the next wave. That of course, soaked us for real, from top to bottom, inside out. No regrets!

Next, we went on the Thunder Canyon. Helen and I did not really get wet from this ride as we were lucky enough to be seated in the area where the waterfalls would not hit. LOLz. Then, we continued our roller coaster mania with the Mean Streak, proclaimed to be one of the best wooden roller coasters in the world. I'd say that this one one of the longer roller coaster rides that I've had taken in this entire trip.

After that, we went for lunch at Johnny rocket. The waiter was really good! Never did it cross my mind that waiters had to know how to do synchronized dancing and "draw" smilley faces using ketchup. I was really impressed by the service there. Food was ok, i guess.

Later in the afternoon, we continue to go for roller coaster rides--Wicked Twister, Raptor, Mantis, Millenium Force, and the Corkscrews-- and other rides like the Bumper Car and Ferris Wheel (for Helen and I).

Amongst the listed roller coaster. I liked the Millenium Force, the classic roller coaster that does not twist too much. The view while the roller coaster went upwards was a sensation, displaying the beauty of Lake Erie on one side and the pretty lights of the park in the other (it was getting dark at that time).

The Mantis was one of my personal favorites too. We had to stand during the entire ride. It felt different from the Raptor that had about the same course.

I would say that the Wicked Twister lives up to its name, being the wicked ride that almost twisted my head off my body. It was one of the scarier rides, along with the Corkscrew that is responsible for most of the bruises on my hand.

The others played a couple of games along the way later that night. Bumper car was really nice, taking me back to childhood memories of Genting (when I still had the guts to play there). It was definitely a good idea to have gone on the Ferris Wheel with Helen as we managed to take pictures of the night scene at Cedar Point from the above.

At about 10:20 p.m., we departed from Cedar Point to a rest station to eat dinner. We ate dinner at midnight-ish. Then, continued our journey and made it back safely to East Lansing at 4:00 a.m. ish, thanks to Frank.

The entire trip was really fun, and was proven to be successful as all of us enjoyed it thoroughly. However, my only regret is having Frank suffer the madness of having to drive from Ohio back in East Lansing without stopping much.

Please be patient about the pictures as I have yet to collect some of the pictures taken using Christa, Helen, and Frank's cameras. Meanwhile, enjoy the other pictures that I've uploaded in Facebook in the album entitled Cedar Point.
