I was walking out of the dorms this morning. To find that the ground was covered with snow. And I so wanted to take a picture of the scenery at that point in time. Well, not like I haven't seen that much snow before. But the scene looked amazing. Imagine: Lots of snow, a bus stop, at 7.30 a.m. (it's still dark here). With a bright moon on the skies. Maybe a star or two. I didn't really see any.
And now... I'm sitting at ComArts. And I thought, it'd be a great idea to snap some really kewl "shadow on the snow" pics. Especially with beautiful trees around the building.
So in that respect, I regret. Abandoning my camera at home.

On the side note: Seems like I'm really, seriously, positively, submiting a piece for a competition. It excites me, even though I might not get any fame out of it. But then again, who knows... who knows..

Am I cold-blooded?
So... according to the termal something... I'm cold blooded. Maybe its true. Nonetheless, I my blood seems to boil pretty quickly. All right. Enough of that crap.
Last weekend was a rather boring one. Other than watching a game or two of tennis, nothing much happened. Yes. I dare not eat Kimchi around here. Why? Because it's just not as good.. HAHA... And yea. My prof was hunting for me over the weekends. I kind of feel bad for him. HAHA. I think many people fail to reach me because my MSU Mail was 100% full. So. Yea. TOO BAD :P
This morning was... how should I put it? Erm... outrageous? Maybe. I reached home at 1a.m. or so in the morning. Slept around 2 or 3a.m. Then, woke up to sign up for something at around 6a.m. Then went back to sleep at 7.30a.m. Woke up again at around 10.15a.m. Ate. Went to class. Came back. Then went to class again.
Tomorrow, you ask? Class at 8a.m till around 2a.m. Maybe I should go do some sports tomorrow. Or maybe not. We'll see what happens. It's just so cold nowadays that I rather risk being late, than to freeze till death when walking across the campus.

This is how it went...
Met with Max.. the person who responded to my application... Then, was walked to this room (I'm assuming that it's where the GA's work).. and.. then.. there's another 4 or 5 people (that's in the production department). They all sat down. Yup. 5/6 pairs of eyes... all staring at me. They introduced themselves. Ask me to introduce myself. Then asked a bunch of questions. Having repeated the details that were evidently available on their Web site. DUH!
Most of the questions that they ask were really subjective. Other than, the whole class schedule–experience thing. Things like... what's your favorite project. Your best quality. BLA BLA BLA. I was particularly surprised that they asked if I had a graphic design class. I mean. Especially for people like me. YAH. Ad majors. We have very little opportunity to do studio art classes. More so graphic designing classes. But hey. The advantage... we tend to learn faster (at least for me) because we self-teach and observe other people's work. Which is, btw... my favorite way of learning. What's more dissapointing are questions that have already been answered in the application/resume's that they've acquired from me earlier. What's the point of asking me to submit it so early, but not reveiwing it before I turn up for the interview. tsk tsk tsk* To test if I know about myself? Maybe. Watever
Then came questions like. What's the coolest thing that you've done in Illustrator/Photoshop–this to me, is A VERY SUBJECTIVE THING. Do you know how to use the tools. DUH. I filled in FAMILIAR in the area that was provided in the application form. YES. MIND YOU. In all 3 adobe applications that were listed.. AGAIN... in their application form.
And so, I was told that if I got in the second round.. GEEZ.. ROUND 2 =.=" , they'd contact me in about a week's time. I don't have high hopes. Nonetheless, it was a good try. I think. And this time around.... my theory of "there's nothing much you can prepare for an interview" is INTERPERSONALLY proven. Yes. Not even a single question was asked about the publication itself.

As requested
An update. Basically a summary of what happened last weekend. Ok. Maybe inclusive of interesting things that happened during the weekdays. So last week was a rather short week. Thanks to. Again. The MLK break on Monday. Tuesday and Thursday's lectures were rather boring. Thanks to the fact that there were replacements professors for one of my advertising class. Nevertheless, the class before that proved to be as interesting as usual. i.e. class was held in a conference room on the 3rd floor (the place where most professor's offices were located).
Friday: A rather tiring day. Lots of "jogging" from one place to another. First to class. Then to AIGA meeting. ALAS... at the squash court. Squash was fun, as usual. What's more fun was the plan to go for badminton on the next day.
Saturday: The initially planned badminton "gathering" turned into a half basketball-half badminton thing. Would have been fun if the badminton courts were available. Nonetheless, the day turned out fruitful (I managed to score–basketball that is–from different angles of the court... okay... half court... or maybe less).
Then to an event shortly after. Ate lots of food. Some were good. Some could have been better. But I must say that it's really good for the first timers. Mahjong. A very complicated game–maybe only for simple minded people like me. But it's interesting. Requires a lot of concentration. At least for me. Because I still have a hard time, trying to figure out the numbers. As well as the characters (North, South, West, East was it?) I'd recommend the game to anyone who needs a little mind juggling.. LOLz
Sunday: A short day. Did homework. Ate. Slept. End of the story.
Got to go. Will continue later.

Now we begin...
With the end of the long weekend (thanks to MLK day), I'd say the semester has truly started. Other than a few misfortunes--of having an ill instructor for one class, and the hands full of work/event planning that's flooding in this semester--this semester has been a great start.
This week alone is a career fair that I'm interested. Or rather, MUST be interested to attend (OK. just kidding!). I've seen through the list and found a couple of interesting companies :)
Then, there's the planning of AIGA's portfolio review. The committee seems to be pretty neat. I sense a great omph in them. The people who are involved. A very big difference from the kinda "motivated individuals" in AAF. It's somewhat similar to those in SCNO. Another group that I'm more involved in. The only difference, they are (AIGA) more inclined to the design aspect.
I'm currently working really hard to come up with something that would serve as a "mark" for my materials. That is to say, figuring how I could give my resumes, letterheads, "book" etc. a coherent look. And this "cap mohor" is one of my fav. Seems that my professor likes it and see the potential in it.
p/s: I intend to change the title to whatever job I apply for. It'd be sweet if it was "art director" LOL... BTW sis, do you by any chance know where's my "stone-with-my-chinese-characters-carved-on-it-I-think-it-was-a-rather-brown-stone?"
Speaking of which, I will be submitting one of my work (remember the posters for the departments. OK. Only one of them) for the AIGA competition. Mind you, I didn't have the confidence to submit it. But since, the department is paying for the fee. And since my prof said that it was a nice piece. I figured... why not?
Another event that I'm thinking of attending. The ADDY's at Downtown Lansing. Thought that it would be a hassle to travel all the way to DET (yes. with the assumption that it was at DET). But then, when I found out that it was by Lansing. Again... why not? I think I'd skip the one this Friday tho. I'm opting for the "gala dinner" on the 23rd. Seems to be a whole lot of fun.
Along the lines, the "againts the fur" (or so) poster competition's deadline is slowly crawling up. While dealing with that, I intend to work on the promotions commons posters to get potential stuff for my book. Ya.. with a couple more side projects with SCNO coming up. With the other portfolio review. Other favors. And personal attempts to work on something interesting. IN CONCLUSION: I love what I'm doing!! At least I think so. Oh well... watever...
A couple of applications here and there. A whole lot of fun with designing everyday. A few minutes to think of what alterations I should do to my existing online portfolio. And a few moments of day dreaming. Dreaming of [fill in the blanks] HAHA...
Alrightee.. seems like a long post to me. Ya i know. After a thousand light years.

p/s: I went for hotpot. The Malaysian translation to that is "steamboat" last week. A rather conversive farewell dinner that same weekend. Swallowed two whole series in 2 days and 1 night. Found some rather interesting books. Both designing and just for facts (did you know that KL Twin Towers are actually the 7th tallest building, in terms of actual height - they fooled us long enough - and that Dubai is planning on building a taller building than Taipei 101 by 2008?!)

On the side note: Wednesday seems to be a very slow day. Thanks to the fact that I only have one class. And it's also probably the very reason for my procrastination. You know. Keeping all the readings till the very last minute. Did I mention, sketches too? OH YES.. laundry too.
Also, didn't know that there were so many weird "moves" and "rules" about squash up till today. Had fun.
Overall, a very laid-back start, with a rather enlightening finale.

Just a lil update
I'm not going to elaborate on my journey. Because there were just too many crappy incidents. But hey, at least I made it back. Safe and sound.
Today is the start of a new semester. Altho I've been longing to get over with writing classes, I have, yet, another writing class to tackle. The good news. I've learned how to enjoy the verbal side of commnications. Nevertheless, this semester's writing element in by schedule shouldn't be as troublesome as the last. Because this class uses the journalistic style of writing. Something that I've learned in an earlier class. The downside. I've forgotten most of it. LOL.
Schedule for this semester seems to be pretty good. Other than having an 8 a.m. class on Tuesday mornings. Following a night class that runs till 9 p.m. on Monday mornings. Such coincidence. I wish that it would have worked the same way when purchasing lottery tickets. Buying those "slips of paper" from the guy that walks towards your table when you're having a dinner. At some place. During certain times.

The three girls that I hung out with. Went bowling (looks like I improved XD) with Lisa while the other two were watching some Thai thrillers. Ate at koptiam, then went different ways. Lisa and I went to Petaling Street. And so, I went on a Anime shopping spreeee XDD

HIshie, Li Sze, and Gene was the first few who turned up in the gathering. Ate at Nando's. Had fun talking to them XD
Then, Chang and Peng came later. Stupid Peng smacked me on my back!
Just for fun. Nyonya and Baba post. I couldn't resist smilling.. LOL!
