As tough as I may seem, it still breaks my heart when I see my parents tearing up.
On another note, I'll be on a roll to work my a** off--in a little more than a week-- while being enrolled as a graphic design student at CCA. I'm a little weary of what's coming up next, but at the same time, almost certain that I will enjoy and get the most out of it. After all, this has always been my dream.
"Be kind to yourself, do what you do best, and trust yourself"-some book in barnes and nobles
p/s: oakland campus seems like the perfect setting for education in arts. Will try to look out for SF campus and post up some pictures whenever I get a chance
p/p/s: future posts for a week++ vacation in CA with family :)

I believe
In a week's time, I will be on my way to San Francisco to complete my second bachelors in Graphic Design at an excruciatingly expensive art school (well, arts schools are never cheap anyway). I've had my doubts about pulling my parents into this very huge commitment--that is probably more than twice the cost of my first degree. Over the few months, I've been asking myself if I really want this, and if this was absolutely necessary. Can I finish up the program as planned? What if I fail to get a scholarship? Will I be successful to earn back the money that would support my family? In addition to that, I have a younger sister whose plan is to transfer in a years time. Will my dad be able to cope with our school fees?
Over the past few months, my younger sibling, mom and dad has been more than supportive of my departure. When I addressed my worries to my sister, she would try her best to convince me that it was all right. That since I've worked so hard to get my foot into this school, I should just go and give it my all. Although my parents would pester my with the costs of attending the school, never did they show the slightest hint that they wanted me to give up the offer. It seems to me that they were more worried that they won't be able to provide me with enough that I would be safe and sound overseas.
Le SIGH
With that said, I really am in no position to give up, nor succumb to giving up my study/work plan because who and who said so. The only thing that I can do right now is to--with all my strength--make sure that it work out the way I plan it to be, and of course repay my parents for believing in me at this stage of my life. In the exact words of my father, I will "become the best designer" there is!
WISH ME LUCK!
BTW, a very merry christmas to all of you
