My 10th attempt to post the pictures from last Thursday! Ohwell.. Just to let you guys know. I will edit this post as I get the pictures uploaded. I've uploaded the last load of pictures that I have. I might upload the other pictures from other cameras' later. Have fun laughing at them.. LOL

While I'm at it. Might as well summarize how I procrastinated over thanksgiving weekend. Went shopping on Wednesday (that pretty much took away half the day). Then to the movies, with the Purdue gang. Hung out till the wee hours in the morning. Altho I have to admit that I was sleeping, more than talking. While they played Monopoly.

Thursay is when we took these pictures. When I gave our friends from Purdue a short tour off + on campus. The day ended as we dispersed from May and Alan's house. Having eaten dinner. A rather unique way of preparing thanksgiving dinner.

Friday was another shopping day. Travelled farther. With a bigger group of people. It's amusing to see people's reaction and habits. PS2. Dinner. PS2. Dragonball. Sleep.

Surprisingly, I don't remember much of Saturday. Maybe it was rather a plain day. Other than eating out for dinner. A dinner that contained a sequence of unexpected and hilarious events.

Sunday, as usual, is the day when I work out the SCNO stuff. Then to the meeting. Finally back to the dorm. Suprised to receive a call from Adeline for dinner. Went for dinner. Had a nice chat. Back home. Procrastinated. Despite the work that I was determined to finish. Oh well. That happens. All the time.

Today. I made it in time for class. Found out that half the classes on Wednesday was cancelled. Was told that tonight's meeting was to-be cancelled. At the very last minute, solved an accounting problem. Still chit-chatting. And now, decides that I should probably get some rest. Seeing the fact that I have an early class tomorrow. All right. It always never happens. And I think I'll do that ASA i finish uploading the pictures.

Yup. So, Kee Koon, Malcolm, and Winnie visited "us". The ADPians who are at MSU. They arrived last night (Wednesday). Went for a movie. And then, ended up playing Monopoly over at Brian's place.

Then, this afternoon, we visited the Capitol after lunch. And a few landmarks on-campus. It was fun hanging out with them. I must admit that they brought back some of the "Malaysian-ess" in me. It was especially funny when Malcolm commented on my accent. I was also happy how Kee Koon patted on my head. Something that I miss a lot - I like being pampered :) And it was great to get to know Winnie. Strange, how I never got to know her when we were all back in Malaysia.

So yea. We took lots of pictures. The guys (Kee Koon and Malcolm) climbed trees. Chased after squirrels. Talked crap. Did other crazy stuff. i.e. lie on the road on campus; post like the statue, with someone being the desk or the gun; took pictures of our shadows etc.

I hate being a senior

Yes. I hate being a senior. Of course, for a couple of reasons. I'd say that the primary reason is the connotations of the title itself. A senior. Reminds me of being a senior citizen.

Ok... I was just being sarcastic. Back to the main point. We all know that there's just too much uncertainties in the last academic year. Maybe it be scheduling of courses. Or getting your hands on an internship. I do not know if I should take it easy for the last two semesters. Or at least, I don't know if it's right to do that. But then again, you never know what is going to happen between those durations. Who knows. I might decide to go to other states for internships during one of those semesters (yes.. i hope).

Nonetheless, I am very adamant that I wouldn't drive myself nuts by taking 5-6 courses in a semester. Especially when it's all assignment heavy. Throughout this semester, I've come to realize that I have the capability to do so. But if done again, it'll probably drain all my energy. And I'm sort of unhappy that I can't hang out with my other friends, as much as I would like to. Yea yea... that's not the whoe point of college. Isn't?

My solution. And I believe, is the best solution- is to wait and see what happens. I know that it's always good to think ahead. But with the system of this place (like.. last minute pop-ups of useful classes like the portfolio class.. ehem), it's really hard for one to really stick with a plan. Unless you're intending to graduate, by purely satisfying your requirements.

I am also opting for a graphic designer position at State News to get some pieces for my portfolio. I'll see what happens with that. Maybe sending a couple of mails and "creative resumes" to places where they're looking for interns over summer. Yes. I'm aware of the opportunities. And I'm somewhat amazed. Afterall, I'm pretty ignorant. I admit that.

Post-graduation you ask? I'm not even sure when I'll be graduating. Nonetheless, I've been thinking of various alternatives. Finishing schools? highly unlikely. It's too costly. Grad school? Probably not. Since it doesn't put any extra value on the industry that I'm going into. Unless I fell in love with PR. Maybe. Or, if I decided that experiental marketing is the thing I want to do. Which is quite unlikely. Yes. I know. My interests are getting broader and broader. Can't help it. But hey, if you look at it from a different perspective, it's a good thing. Ain't it?

I think I've hinted that I've been working on various pieces that has value. And can be added to my portfolio. A CD case, a commercial, a series of ads for a campaign, an online portfolio. Sounds like lots of fun eh? You bet. But that's lots of work. Yet, I'm enjoying it. I'm enjoying the remainder of my most productive, fun, and exciting semester. Ever since I started college. Yes, since my very first day at Taylors ADP :)

Ok. I know.. I'm just being random. Just wanted to take a break from the fun stufz. And do SOME OTHER fun stufz. With all that written into this "online diary", I'll hopefully be able to put those aside. To concentrate better on the things that I have to do.

Time to stop whining and boasting.. Back to work.

p/s: oh yes.. I was supposed to design something for a certain someone when I'm back in Malaysia too right? Should be fun. You better set a budget. Because I can go inhumanly random :)

Jaws drop (literally)

I was anxious about the ACC test I had last week. Well, not to the point that I couldn't sleep. Or anything like that. And I was seriously thinking of doing the "second-chance-exam". I know. It's a weird system. And I'm not going to go in-depth about that. Somewhat determined to complete the "test", I completed a couple of questions. Questions that I was able to do without the assitance of the course pack. Yes. I was at the library. And yes. I forgot to bring my coursepack along with me. So, yea. With that little motivation, I completed 3. Out of the 13 questions.

And then, came yesterday. The deadline for all submissions. 11.59p. At that point of time. With a little calculation to back my point up. I decided to give up this second chance. Only because, it wouldn't have made a big difference (I estimated around, 3-4 mistakes, out of the 13 questions). I'd still have to score that amount of points for the finals to get the grade that I desire. Time passed by. And, in the end. I didn't do a single question. When I looked at the clock, it was way pass the deadline. I thought: Ohwell... it's over now. I'll just wait for the resutls.

This morning. As I was procrastinating in another class. I opened the system. Out of curiousity. To find out that I didn't miss a single question. Which really amazed me. I'm somewhat awed by my "shooting skills".. or if you would, "tembaking" skills. Which reminds me of my mimicking skills. For some reason, I am able to mimick almost everything. Painting style. Dance steps. Drum beats. Soundtracks on various instruments. Voices. Gestures. Etc. Maybe I grew up in an environment that forced me to pick up skills as such. Making everything seem considerably easy for me. OK. I admit. There's a little bit of boasting over here. But wait a minute. I'm just trying to get the message across. Oh.. whatever.

On the side note. I was at this lecture yesterday. A lady from the filming industry talked about her life (literally). From the time she started at a college in MIchigan. To her, travelling to NYU and etc. I must say that it was interesting. A little more interesting that the one about public art by Ann Weber a few weeks back. I particularly liked a short film entitled "Adios". Then, there was this entirely digitalized movie. It was cool all right. But I still like the other one.

Speaking of the world of art. I attended an opening ceremony last friday. At KAC. In conjunction with the department's (Art and Art History) 75th anniversary. There were lots of interesting displays. One. The work of graduate students. Some of which, I feel, needed the artists' explanation to make sense. Afterall, (at least from my stand point), sculptures, paintings etc are forms of ART that expresses the artists' feelings. Something that I longed to do since young. I particularly liked a graphic design piece done by Kelly, a faculty advisor. It was interesting. She 3-D'ed a flat piece. And it worked really well with the patterns and type[s] of that piece. I was undeniably mesmerized. Was also impressed of the various posters that were done, in celebration of the department's previous anniversaries. This was showcased in the "walking through history" room. It was fabulous.

Copywriting seems a little more interesting nowadays. Steinberg's been giving some really good insights about the industry. Perhaps, I've been most attentive recently. Because of the better grades that I'm getting from the class. Also, because I've changed my perception of writing in general. I realized. At long last. That writing can be interesting as well.

Speaking of class, I've been looking at portfolios. They are expensive. So are the laptops. Money. Money. Money. A serious problem. LOLz. But i've been having lots of fun this semester. Despite the heavy load of work I get. I'm getting used to it. And I'm glad. Because it's good preparation for the real world. I'm going to take it easy next semester tho:) That, I can't resist.

Just a picture I took at night. Walking around campus. Taking pictures of buildings can be boring at times. But yet, it can be rewarding at the same time. Because, it is at these times, when you try to make things as interesting as possible. And that is exactly what I like about being a visual person.
